Mid season variety(80-90 days from transplant). Turkish eggplants are scientifically classified as part of Solanum aethiopicum and are also known as Scarlet eggplant, Ethiopian eggplant, Gilo, Garden Eggs and Mock tomato. The name Solanum applies to thousands of eggplant varieties which share common ancestry and genomes, yet vary in shape, color, size and even flavor. Vigorous heirloom yields small, round green fruits that turn deep orange-red when mature. Harvest slightly green for best flavor if you want to use them for cooking; or wait and display the fully ripe scarlet fruits as ornamentals!
